This is the male of a pair of Barrow’s Goldeneye I photographed one afternoon in June, several years ago. The male is a gorgeous bird, and this guy really was patient with me being near.

Even though I photographed from my blind, I’m reasonably confident both ducks knew I was there. The blind really helps settle birds when they’re difficult to approach, and I made good use of it this summer.
